Burbank Arts for All Foundation Presents:
The Give Instead Gala Launching April 12th – May 10th
Burbank, California – April 10, 2019– In response to the critical needs of Burbank Unified School District (BUSD), this year, Burbank Arts for All Foundation is changing the model of their annual Party for the Arts Gala to the Give Instead Gala – a month-long extravaganza in order to give more to BUSD arts education.
Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, Jill Vander Borght and Tom Vice, explain:
“On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, Burbank Arts for All Foundation is excited to engage the community in support of our mission to further creativity in the classroom for all of BUSD’s students. With so many increased funding needs in the local schools, we could not justify spending money on our fancy night out this year. In February, we were thrilled to grant $100,000 to help save an elementary music teacher, but we know there is more work to do. Help the Foundation to spend less this Gala season, so we can give more throughout 2019. We invite the community to join us, to link arms, and to give in support of the arts.”
The Give Instead Gala will begin this Friday, April 12th and continue through Friday, May 10th. The campaign invites donors to a month-long “Black Tie Optional, Pajamas Preferred” experience, where they can donate, sponsor, host a fundraising gathering in their own home, create and inspire a fundraising team online, or participate in an online auction which begins on Friday, April 26th.
All proceeds from the Give Instead Gala will benefit Burbank Arts for All Foundation. The Foundation has worked in partnership with BUSD for over 12 years, investing more than $662,000 through 298 grants and giving initiatives for BUSD arts education programs and engaging the community in the importance of arts education and its impact on Burbank’s creative economy.
Currently, the Give Instead Gala sponsors are The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Entertainment, NBCUniversal, Nickelodeon, Logix Federal Credit Union, Providence Saint Joseph, FotoKem, House America Financial, Gain Federal Credit Union, and Woodbury University.
Co-Chairing the Give Instead Gala is The Walt Disney Company’s Joan McCarthy, Volpei-Gussow Real Estates’ Karen Volpei, The Walt Disney Company’s Carrie Brown, Writer/Producer Suzanne Weerts, and Real Value Properties, Inc.’s Cathy Stevens.

Donate: Get Creative! Every Donation Helps. Donate any amount to Give Instead this Gala season, such as:
- Instead of spending $150 for a Gala ticket, give instead to make it possible for more students in Burbank’s schools to experience the arts in their school day!
- Instead of spending $250 for a ticket and a new pair of dancing shoes, give instead to support the Foundation’s work offering free arts and craft activities to kids!
- Instead of spending $300 for two tickets, give instead to support the Foundation’s grants, like providing one classroom’s arts supplies for a year.
- Instead of spending $500 for tickets and an outfit you may never wear again, give instead to help the Foundation engage the community in the importance of the arts!
- Instead of spending $1,000 for tickets, dancing shoes, outfits, hiring a babysitter, and an Uber, give instead to support the Foundation’s grants, like funding a middle school media lab or a new oboe!
