The Burbank Business Partners has nominated the Burbank Arts for All Foundation and Burbank High School and John Burroughs High School VMA Show Choirs for the collaboration of the All American Show Choir Super Show at their “Celebrate Our Schools” luncheon next Wednesday January 11, 2012.
The All American Show Choir Super Show, performed in June of 2011, brought together the national championship show choirs from Burbank High School and John Burroughs High School as they performed their show-stopping numbers to benefit the Foundation’s mission which is to ensure every student in Burbank public schools receives a quality arts education as part of their core curriculum. And, for the first time ever, in grand finale style, the All American Show Choir Super Show culminated with all 110 members of Burbank High’s “In Sync” and John Burroughs’ “Powerhouse” uniting as one super choir while performing on stage together. Over 3,500 residents and guests packed the Starlight Bowl and raised over $55,000 for the Foundation. City officials, hundreds of volunteers from the Foundation’s Community Outreach Working Group and local businesses volunteered their time, resources and talent to ensure the event’s success and further arts education for Burbank’s public schools.
The Burbank Business Partners nominated the collaboration for the award of “Resource Building” acknowledging the initiative, persistence, and creative vision it takes to capture and develop community support for our schools. “The leadership shown by the Burbank Arts for All Foundation has raised the bar for generating awareness and ongoing support for this vital component of K-12 education,” Burbank Business Partners said.
The Burbank Arts For All Foundation accomplishes its mission by advocating for quality arts education, raising funds for an arts education endowment, and providing grants to support the Burbank Unified School District’s Arts for All plan. Since its was founded in 2006, the Foundation has awarded over $120,000 in grant funds supporting projects like new musical instruments, artist in residency programs, professional development for teachers, a new kiln, an animated P.S.A. workshop, auditorium and sound system upgrades, strategic planning for Burbank’s Arts for All plan and many dance, theatre, music and art productions or projects.
We hope you will join us at the “Celebrate Our Schools” event in celebration of our nomination next Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Lakeside Country Club. For tickets and further information please click here.
